Millions of people across Illinois were placed under an urgent tornado warning as severe storms moved through the densely populated Chicago area on Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued the warnings due to extreme winds and heavy rain battering the state.

"Heavy rainfall may hide this tornado. Do not wait to see or hear the tornado. TAKE COVER NOW!" the service advised. Meteorologist Max Velocity reported that weather stations in Illinois registered wind gusts exceeding 130 mph. Radar scans indicated that multiple tornadoes had already touched down in northern Illinois, with the severe weather expected to move into Indiana.

"This is an extremely dangerous situation. I cannot stress enough that you have to take shelter. Even if you are not under a tornado, you have to take shelter, even if you are under a severe thunderstorm warning," Velocity stated in a YouTube livestream.

Weather officials issued urgent warnings of tornadoes in the Chicago area, urging residents to seek shelter immediately as the storms moved through the region. The severe weather brought extreme winds and heavy rain, creating hazardous conditions.
