Miller Expresses Frustration Over Rangers' Missed Power-Play Opportunities
Forward J.T. Miller voiced disappointment after the Rangers failed to convert on multiple third-period power plays in a 1-0 overtime loss.

Columbus, Ohio – J.T. Miller did not hold back his frustration following the New York Rangers' 1-0 overtime defeat to the Blue Jackets, specifically lamenting the team's inability to capitalize on third-period power-play opportunities.
Despite having three chances with the man-advantage in the final frame, the Rangers failed to score, a performance that drew criticism from their forward.
"It sucks the power play can’t come up with one in the third," Miller stated. "You get three cracks in the third. You got to help the team right there. We could’ve used one."
Head coach Mike Sullivan echoed Miller's sentiment, admitting, "You’d hope they would score a goal there."
The Rangers' power play struggled throughout the game, managing only four chances across their three opportunities. This performance has now seen their success rate drop to 20 percent on the season, including a 1-for-11 stretch since their game against the Lightning.
The disappointment in the power play's ineffectiveness contrasted with the team's strong penalty-killing performance. The Blueshirts successfully killed all three of the Blue Jackets’ power-play attempts, including a four-on-three situation that began in overtime.
Miller suggested that the team's failure to gain offensive zone possession cleanly contributed to the power play's struggles.
"I don’t think we got in as clean," Miller said. "We didn’t come up with the contested pucks in the corners. I felt like they did. … So it wasn’t our best, and we, to a man, understand that you get three power plays in the third, nothing-nothing on the road, you have to step up there."
