Miles Sanders' attorney announced that the NFL free agent's DUI case is nearing a resolution, and expressed a desire for his client to play for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones again.
Phil DiLucente, Sanders' attorney, stated on Wednesday that after a court appearance, his client will participate in an accelerated rehabilitative disposition program. This program, if successfully completed, is expected to lead to the expungement of the drunk driving charges against Sanders. "He looks forward to playing for Mr. Jones in the very near future," DiLucente said.
Sanders, who last played for the Cowboys in the 2025 season, faces charges of DUI and careless driving stemming from an incident on June 8 in Pennsylvania. According to the criminal complaint, authorities found Sanders "slumped in the driver's seat" of his vehicle, which was stopped in the middle of a road. The complaint alleges that Sanders exhibited signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol, and admitted to drinking prior to performing poorly on sobriety tests.
A portable breath test administered at the scene reportedly returned a positive result for alcohol. Sanders, who became an NFL free agent in March, is scheduled for a further court hearing on December 16, with his attorney anticipating the case will be fully resolved by January.
Sanders was a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played his first four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Carolina Panthers for two years. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys in March 2025 but played in only four games before suffering an injury. In his NFL career, Sanders has accumulated 4,462 rushing yards and 24 rushing touchdowns over 88 games.
