NBA star Miles Bridges has accused the mother of his four children, Mychelle Johnson, of assault for allegedly throwing water on him during a custody exchange in June. The incident occurred on June 22, when Bridges went to retrieve the children for his scheduled parenting time.

According to court filings, Bridges claims Johnson doused him with water in front of their children and then threatened to repeat the action if they continued to argue. Bridges stated in a message through a co-parenting app, "So it's funny to throw water on me in front of my kids?" Court documents indicate Johnson replied, "you were cussing infront of them scaring them SO i played it off SO they would laugh they did."

Bridges' attorneys allege that Johnson subsequently denied him his scheduled parenting time and took their four children from North Carolina to Florida. They assert that Johnson has repeatedly involved the children in their dispute, used them as leverage, exposed them to "physical violence committed against the Father," and then attempted to minimize the conduct.

Bridges is seeking primary physical custody of the children and joint legal custody. His filing also requests that Johnson be supervised by a third-party supervisor during her scheduled parenting time. The Daily Mail has reached out to Johnson and her attorneys for comment.

This accusation follows a temporary restraining order Bridges was granted against Johnson in May. He had accused her of "cyberstalking" him and damaging his car at one of his basketball games. Johnson denied these claims at the time. The restraining order prohibited Johnson from coming within 500 feet of Bridges, his current girlfriend, his other three children, his home, and his workplace.

Previous court filings also accused Johnson of making false pregnancy claims against Bridges under an assumed name and lying to their children about his interest in seeing them.

A prior custody request by Bridges was denied on April 10 by a Mecklenburg County judge who found it "failed to articulate how the children were at substantial risk."

In 2022, Bridges pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge for injuring Johnson in front of their children in June of that year. He received three years of probation as part of his plea agreement. In October 2023, a criminal summons was issued for Bridges, alleging a violation of a protection order stemming from the 2022 case.

Bridges, a former Michigan State standout, was a first-round NBA draft pick in 2018. He has played for the Charlotte Hornets for seven seasons, averaging 15.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. His career earnings are reported to be $76 million, with an expected $22.8 million salary for the upcoming season with the Hornets.
