Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White Attend Premiere for "The Social Reckoning"

Mikey Madison arrived in a striking strapless pale yellow beaded dress for the London premiere of "The Social Reckoning" on Tuesday night. The Academy Award-winning actress, 27, wore a sculpted gown from Michael Stewart's Standing Ground collection, featuring textured rows of ruched beading that created a dramatic silhouette.

Madison was joined by her co-star Jeremy Allen White, who opted for a more casual ensemble of a stone jacket, matching shirt, and black tie. The film is a follow-up to the 2010 drama "The Social Network," with Jeremy Strong stepping into the role of Mark Zuckerberg, previously portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg.

"The Social Reckoning," set for release on October 9, centers on the 2021 Facebook leak by whistleblower Frances Haugen, played by Madison, and Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, portrayed by Allen White. The film's synopsis describes it as a companion piece to "The Social Network," based on the events that led to the Wall Street Journal's exposé "The Facebook Files." It is inspired by the true story of how Haugen, a young Facebook engineer, collaborates with Horwitz to expose the social network's guarded secrets.

Earlier this year, the trailer's premiere at CinemaCon featured scenes of Frances meeting with the reporter Jeff, expressing her desire to "help Facebook, not hurt it." The trailer also showed Strong as Mark Zuckerberg in a courtroom setting, delivering a forceful line: "Enough. People around here understand that when I say no it is the end of the debate."

Aaron Sorkin, who won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for "The Social Network," has returned to write and direct the sequel. Sorkin stated that the decision to make a follow-up was driven by Facebook's pervasive influence, noting, "There isn’t a life that Facebook’s algorithm hasn’t touched, and that influence has shaped everything. So it’s time to say more."

Jesse Eisenberg, who earned an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg in the original film, has previously expressed a lack of interest in being associated with Facebook or its parent company, Meta. In an interview, Eisenberg shared his concerns about the tech mogul's actions, particularly regarding the removal of fact-checking and safety measures, stating, "It's not like I played a great golfer or something and now I want people to think I'm a great golfer — it's like this guy that is doing things that are problematic, taking away fact-checking and safety concerns."

He added, "Making people who are already threatened in this world more threatened." Eisenberg also voiced concern about the vast wealth accumulated by tech leaders and how it is being used, questioning if it's to "curry favor with people who's preaching hateful [things]?"

Other notable attendees at the premiere included Jenni Falconer, who wore a patterned minidress, and Honey Ross, who attended with her boyfriend Gav Murphy in a leopard print dress. Radio DJ Edith Bowman also made an appearance in a long black dress.
