Mikel Arteta Claims He Has Evidence of Other Managers Breaking Touchline Rules
Arsenal boss vows to use his 'dossier' of images if confronted about his own technical area infractions.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has amassed a collection of photographic evidence to counter accusations of him frequently straying outside his technical area. Following his second yellow card of the season for the offense during Arsenal's recent victory over Everton, Arteta stated he possesses proof that other Premier League managers are more frequent offenders and have avoided similar sanctions.
"I do have to be careful. They should put sensors there," Arteta commented. "There are managers who have the record in the league, 36 times in 10 minutes [they] leave the touchline - no yellows."
Arteta indicated he has compiled a significant visual record. "I am clipping all of that so I have now a massive storage of images, so if somebody comes to me I can say, 'I am not in the record yet'. Somebody else has the record so let's see."
He added, "Then it's 36 yellow cards in 10 minutes for the managers. I don't know what we are going to do - let's see."
While Arteta did not identify the managers he believes are the primary culprits, a BBC Sport study from April 2025 identified Aston Villa's Unai Emery as spending the most time outside his technical area among current top-flight managers. The report suggests that Premier League managers should remain vigilant about their conduct on the sidelines, as Arteta is reportedly monitoring their actions.
