Mike Tyson Predicts Republican Midterm Victory, Joins Trump at New York Rally

Boxing legend Mike Tyson has predicted a victory for Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections, stating, "I believe Donald Trump is gonna win it." Tyson made these remarks on Friday during a visit to the White House before accompanying President Trump to a rally in Syracuse, New York.

Trump, who has known Tyson since the 1980s when he hosted boxing events featuring the fighter in Atlantic City, joked with reporters about his longtime friend. "I won’t be fighting him today," Trump said, adding, "We’ve been friends for a long time."

Beyond their personal history, Tyson and Trump share common ground in cannabis advocacy. In June 2025, Tyson joined other athletes in urging the White House to pursue federal marijuana reform, seeking clemency for nonviolent offenses and changes to banking restrictions affecting cannabis businesses. Tyson expressed disappointment with the past administrations' handling of the issue.

"It was a letdown, but you have to respect they were in power. You have to respect that," Tyson said. "We have a different president now, so we're talking to him. So, it seems to be a lot different talking to President Trump than with the other guy. And, like I said before, that's their agenda. This is our agenda right here."

Tyson identified the rescheduling of marijuana as a top priority, alongside mass clemency for nonviolent offenders. In December 2025, Trump signed an executive order directing the attorney general to expedite the proposed move of marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III, a step Tyson welcomed while also urging further action on clemency and federal legalization.
