Former NFL coach Mike Tomlin has dedicated 12 years to building an intricate solo world within the popular video game 'Minecraft,' a project he estimates has consumed over 2,000 hours of his time. Tomlin shared details of his elaborate virtual creation on his YouTube channel, showcasing features such as a lakeside community, high-rise apartments, a diverse aquarium, and extensive natural landscapes.

Tomlin began his 'Minecraft' endeavor in 2014. He described the challenges in constructing elements like water features and apartment interiors, noting a particular fixation on bedroom designs within the high-rise buildings. "Sometimes buildings have themes," he stated, highlighting his attention to detail and aesthetic considerations for the structures. He also mentioned that he was "always view conscious of these high-rise buildings."

Due to the scale of his creation, Tomlin was unable to showcase the entirety of his world in a single video, indicating that a baseball stadium and other elements would be featured in subsequent installments. The former coach, who now serves as an NFL broadcaster for NBC, expressed a long-standing interest in architecture and building, finding personal discovery through his detailed work on the game.

The estimated 2,000 hours of gameplay averages out to approximately six hours per week over the 12-year period. Tomlin's son, Mayce Tomlin, humorously shared on X (formerly Twitter) that his father would sometimes take over his gaming console without warning to work on the 'Minecraft' world, leading to lighthearted surprise. "Bro, I used to come home sometimes, and my PlayStation would just be gone. And I wasn’t in trouble," Mayce Tomlin posted.
