Mike Tomlin's Blunt Assessment of Players-Only Meetings

Mike Tomlin, the former head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and current NFL analyst, offered a stark assessment of players-only meetings in the NFL, stating, "I think you’re dead." Tomlin shared his perspective on the "New Heights" podcast with hosts Jason and Travis Kelce.

Tomlin's comments came in the context of the Dallas Cowboys reportedly holding a players-only meeting following their Week 5 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which dropped their record to 2-3. The Cowboys' defense, in particular, has faced scrutiny for its inconsistent performance.

Tomlin later clarified his statement, emphasizing that his concern was less about the meeting itself and more about the fact that such an event became public knowledge. "If it did occur, I’d like to not hear about it," Tomlin said. "The fact that you hear about it is what makes it BS."

The Cowboys made coaching staff changes following their loss, with Mike Pettine rejoining the team as a senior defensive assistant. Pettine has prior working relationships with Christian Parker, who currently leads the Cowboys' defense.

Tomlin also addressed questions regarding his own loyalties during his broadcasting work, particularly when discussing his former team, the Steelers. He stated that he wouldn't apologize for his continued support of the organization and players he had a long tenure with.

The Cowboys are set to face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Week 6.
