Mike Tindall attended the Laver Cup at London's O2 Arena on September 25, marking his first public appearance since the recent death of his father, Phil, who passed away at age 80 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson's disease. Tindall, 47, was accompanied by his wife, Zara, 45, and met with close friend and Laver Cup co-founder Roger Federer.
Phil Tindall, a former rugby player and captain of Otley Rugby Club, died the week prior to September 23, as announced by Mike on his podcast "The Good, The Bad & The Rugby." The rugby club paid tribute to Phil with a minute's silence during a match.
Mike Tindall, who wed Zara Tindall, daughter of Princess Anne, in 2011, has been a vocal advocate for Parkinson's research. He has served as a patron for Cure Parkinson's since 2018, raising awareness and funds for the condition. He previously shared that his father had been living with Parkinson's for over two decades, having been diagnosed in 2003, the same year Mike helped England win the Rugby World Cup. In May, Tindall described his father's health as declining significantly, stating that Parkinson's had taken a "devastating toll."
The Laver Cup, co-founded by Roger Federer in 2017, is an annual men's tennis tournament that pits a team of six top European players against six players from the rest of the world. The event is inspired by the Ryder Cup in golf. Tindall and his wife, both sports enthusiasts, were seen observing the matches, including a singles match between Team Europe's Rafael Jodar and Team World's Alexander Bublik.
