Mike Golic Sr. has returned to ESPN Radio with his son, Mike Golic Jr., for their new show titled “The Golics.” Golic Sr. described his return to the network as a surprise, even to his son, and indicated he is open to future possibilities with former co-host Mike Greenberg, stating, “never say never.”

Golic Sr. and Greenberg hosted the popular “Mike & Mike” show for 17 years before their partnership ended in 2017 when Greenberg moved to host “Get Up.”

"One thing I’ve learned over the years is you never say never, right? You never know what can come about," Golic Sr. told The Post. "I would imagine while it’s a big company, it’s a small company as far as people are concerned. You never know when paths are going to cross and this is so early in the process here. Mike [Golic Jr.] and I are still trying to get off the ground, but like I said, the term I would use for pretty much anything is you never say never."

He added that currently, "nothing has been talked about or in the works." Golic Sr. previously described his departure from ESPN in 2021 when his contract expired as the network deciding, “They didn’t feel I had worth to their team, so they cut me.”

Golic Jr. shared that his father's return to ESPN was surprising but also presented a welcome opportunity. "I think, as much as anything, the emotion behind it was, ‘what a cool chance to come back and help add to that,’" he said. "Help continue what he had built at ESPN Radio, you know, him and [Greenberg] for so long. To now get to play a small part in helping him add to that and going back again."

The father-son duo’s new show on ESPN Radio follows a previous program they hosted for FanDuel Sports Network, which was canceled in March due to financial issues at its parent company. Golic Sr. and Golic Jr. have collaborated before, including instances when Golic Jr. joined his father on air with Trey Wingo after the split with Greenberg.

According to Golic Sr., the goal for “The Golics” is not to “reinvent the wheel.” He envisions the show as a “comfortable blanket” for listeners, featuring discussions on sports, food, and friendly banter. Golic Jr. noted that positive feedback often highlighted the appeal of their father-son dynamic, with listeners relating to the intergenerational interactions and shared moments.

"It’s what makes us unique in this and so people simultaneously get to feel like they’re a part of our family," Golic Jr. explained.
