Mikayla Nogueira Details Divorce from Cody Hawken, Cites Addiction and Career Pressures

Influencer Mikayla Nogueira has disclosed the reasons behind her divorce from Cody Hawken, explaining that his struggles with addiction and the pressures of her rapidly expanding career ultimately led to their separation. Nogueira, who has amassed over 17.5 million followers on TikTok, shared these details on the "On Purpose With Jay Shetty" podcast.

The couple married in July 2023 after less than two years of dating. Their split was finalized in July of this year, with Nogueira initially withholding the specific reasons to protect Hawken. At the time of their separation in February, she described the split as amicable and asked fans to respect Hawken's past with addiction.

Nogueira explained that their relationship began in 2020 on Tinder as her career was gaining significant traction. Around the same time, Hawken had relocated to Massachusetts and was undergoing treatment for substance abuse. Nogueira described their initial connection as a shared experience of navigating significant life changes.

However, Hawken reportedly struggled with the increased public attention that accompanied Nogueira's rising fame. "I don't think he or I understood the scale of what was going to be," Nogueira stated, adding that while he was initially supportive, he found the reality of her career spotlight more challenging than anticipated.

Nogueira also admitted to experiencing immense pain and suffering from online criticism related to her beauty content, which she said left her feeling detached and unable to be a supportive partner. She recounted the intense fear she experienced when she discovered Hawken unconscious in their bed one night, suspecting an overdose. Paramedics were called, and while he recovered, the incident was deeply traumatizing.

During their final year of marriage, Nogueira felt she no longer recognized Hawken and realized she could not provide the support he needed. She concluded that both she and Hawken faced their own challenges, with her being too early in her career and too young to understand marriage, and him being too early in his sobriety journey and also too young to be seeking a partner. This realization ultimately led to her decision to divorce.

Following the podcast's release, Hawken posted on X, "Time answers all questions. I am ready and willing to move on in my life." He later added, "A little much, if you ask me," though it remained unclear if his comments were a direct response to Nogueira's interview.
