Miguel Rojas to Play Baseball Again After Dodgers Retirement

Veteran infielder Miguel Rojas, recently retired from the Los Angeles Dodgers, is not finished with baseball. Rojas announced his retirement following the Dodgers' sweep in the National League Championship Series by the Brewers. However, he will play one more time for his home country, Venezuela, joining the Tiburones de La Guaira club in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Rojas is scheduled to participate in special games for the club on November 14 and 15 at LoanDepot Park in Miami. He expressed his intention to play one last time on the field and represent Venezuela in an Instagram post.

This opportunity comes after Rojas experienced disappointment with the World Baseball Classic earlier in 2026. He was unable to participate in the tournament due to issues with obtaining insurance on his MLB contract, which prevented him from representing his country in the WBC for what would have been his last chance before retirement.

"I didn’t know that my chance to go represent my country for the first and only time, probably as a player, was gonna get blocked because of an insurance problem," Rojas stated. "Even though we know we have to be ready for the season and we have to play and be healthy for our contract, at the end of the day, we didn’t know all those restrictions were gonna be in place the way they are right now."
