Midwife sent woman home in labor citing 'not enough pain,' daughter born in garden
A woman recounted her harrowing experience of being sent home from the hospital during labor due to insufficient pain, only for her water to break in her garden shortly after.
A woman identified as Sarah has shared a distressing account of being turned away from a maternity ward, despite being in labor, because a midwife reportedly deemed her pain levels insufficient. The situation escalated when her waters broke unexpectedly in her garden shortly after her return home. Sarah described seeing something she described as an "unthinkable" sight in the mirror after her waters broke.
She was sent home with the midwife allegedly wanting a cup of tea. Sarah's narrative highlights critical concerns about the care provided within maternity services. She stated that upon arriving home, she was shaking and on the verge of a panic attack when her waters broke "in a flood." While going upstairs and looking in a mirror, she reported seeing what she initially perceived as a "small tiny, purple hand."
Sarah expressed that the recent reports detailing issues within maternity services brought her a sense of relief that the truth was being uncovered. She added that the moment she first saw her daughter, she was overcome with love, a feeling she believes was essential to enduring what she described as the "utter hell" of the postnatal ward.
