A Midtown Manhattan high-rise was evacuated Tuesday morning after structural beams began to buckle, causing some floors to sag and bricks to fall.

The incident occurred at the 37-story commercial building located at 235 East 42nd Street. Construction workers noticed two support beams bending and failing on the 21st and 22nd floors around 8:11 a.m., prompting the evacuation, according to the New York Police Department and the Fire Department of New York.

Fire officials reported that floors were sagging between the 21st and 26th stories.

All construction workers were safely evacuated from the building as a precautionary measure, and no injuries were reported. East 42nd Street between Second and Third avenues was closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic as authorities began their investigation into the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
