New details have emerged in the murder-suicide that claimed the lives of eight members of a Michigan family, with death certificates indicating the mother may have been killed a day before her children and husband. Amanda 'Mandy' Karolkiewicz, 39, and her six children—Keegan, 15; Bennet, 12; Smith, Ella, and Caroline, all 11; and Theodore, 5—died from gunshot wounds, followed by her husband, Kristopher Karolkiewicz, 47, who then took his own life.

Authorities now believe Amanda was the first victim. Her death certificate lists her date of death as 'on or after' July 23, while the children's death certificates specify July 24 as their date of death. It remains unclear how much time elapsed between Amanda's death and the deaths of her children. Captain Jacob Sparks of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office stated that it is 'likely' Amanda died earlier than the children, but an exact timeline is still being established.

Mandy Karolkiewicz was a substitute teacher at Grand Haven Area Public Schools and had authored a children's book titled 'The Magical Mantra' under a pen name. Family members have described her and her children as wonderful people who enjoyed spending time together.

Investigators believe Kristopher Karolkiewicz carried out the attack on July 24 in their Grand Haven Township home, using a semi-automatic handgun. The bodies of Amanda and the children were found in their respective bedrooms, while Kristopher's body was discovered in the couple's bedroom. The sheriff's office has stated that Amanda and the children's deaths were classified as homicides, while Kristopher's was ruled a suicide.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral costs for the family. Amanda's father, Gary Anderson, expressed his grief and confusion, stating he struggles to understand the motive. He also reflected on Kristopher, whom he described as a 'good father and a good husband' for the duration of his acquaintance with him.

Reports suggest that Amanda may have revealed details about Kristopher's alleged emotional affair with an intern in a series of Reddit posts. The posts, if authored by Amanda, describe years of distrust and anger in the relationship, as well as the couple's efforts to seek therapy and embrace sobriety. These posts also allude to a confrontation where Amanda allegedly shoved Kristopher and later forced him to quit his job. However, the validity of these Reddit posts could not be confirmed by the couple's loved ones.

Family spokesperson Emily Jones commented that the Reddit posts suggest an individual seeking anonymity for support, highlighting the sadness of anyone feeling unable to express their fears openly in their real lives.
