A man is believed to have killed his wife and six children before setting their Grand Haven Township, Michigan, home ablaze and taking his own life, authorities said. The couple, Kristopher Karolkiewicz, 47, and Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz, 39, along with their six children, whose ages ranged from 5 to 15, were discovered deceased inside the burning residence.
Autopsies determined that the mother and children died from gunshot wounds, while the father died by suicide, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. A handgun was recovered from the scene. Investigators believe Kristopher Karolkiewicz intentionally set multiple fires throughout the house after the killings.
The family's pets, including at least three dogs and a cat, also perished in the incident, primarily from smoke inhalation or burns. It is possible that other pets were in the home and also died.

Law enforcement officials have not yet determined a motive for the tragedy. While unverified Reddit posts attributed to Amanda Karolkiewicz have surfaced, suggesting marital difficulties and allegations of infidelity, a family spokesperson stated that they cannot confirm if she was indeed the author of those posts.
