Michelle Williams Returns to School to Study Psychology
The Destiny's Child singer is a sophomore at Regent University, pursuing a degree in psychology.
Michelle Williams, the 47-year-old singer best known for her work with Destiny's Child, has announced she is a sophomore at Regent University, studying psychology. Williams shared the update on Instagram, posting a selfie in which she is wearing a green Regent University T-shirt and glasses.
"Chiiiiiiiiile, your girl is back in school!! 💚" she captioned the photo. Williams admitted to initial hesitation about sharing the news, citing an intrusive thought: "What if you don't finish?"
She expressed her commitment to completing her studies, stating, "I'm going to finish, and I'm going to finish strong. 💚" Williams also joked about her choice of major, adding, "because y'all need help! LOLOL (just kidding … kinda)."
Williams praised her academic advisors and professors, calling them "awesome!! 💙" She asked for prayers for her "endurance and focus! 💚"
The announcement received a wave of support in the comments section, prompting Williams to pin a message of her own. "I see all the comments and I want to respond, but I gotta go read!!" she wrote. "I love you all!! PS: I'd love some study tips, for sure!!"
Kelly Rowland, a fellow Destiny's Child member, offered encouragement, writing, "My Love!!! You GOT THIS!!! It goes without saying, my heart is so full!! This is YOUR TIME! 🥹🥰♥️"
Williams recently concluded her run as Viola Van Horn in the Broadway musical "Death Becomes Her," which closed on June 28.
In November 2024, Rowland and Beyoncé, both 45, supported Williams at the musical's opening night. More recently, the trio reunited for their first performance together in seven years at the final stop of Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour in Las Vegas in July 2025. The group performed several Destiny's Child hits and collaborated with Beyoncé on her song "Energy."
