Michelle Keegan, 39, disclosed her unusual eating preferences during a live appearance on Capital Radio on Tuesday, admitting to a fondness for mayonnaise with her Chinese takeaway.
Keegan's revelation prompted surprise from hosts Jordan North, Chris Stark, and Sian Welby as she detailed her habit of adding the condiment to dishes such as chow mein. "I have mayonnaise with my Chinese. And I don’t think that is a northern thing I think that’s just disgusting. But I love it!" she stated.
When questioned about the timing and method of her mayonnaise consumption, Keegan clarified that she adds it immediately, particularly to chow mein, and described her eating style as "dipping." She explained, "I put Chow Mein, fork, dip, dip, dip. Or, I could have a chicken wing and dip the chicken wing in the mayonnaise and then eat it. It’s a bit gross, isn’t it?"
Co-host Chris Stark offered reassurance, stating, "It’s good we’ve all got our flaws," while Sian Welby humorously added, "We've finally found one for Michelle Keegan."
Keegan's husband, Mark Wright, has previously commented on her culinary preferences, noting her enjoyment of Chinese takeaways and curries, while also emphasizing their shared commitment to a healthy and balanced lifestyle. "She loves a Chinese takeaway and a curry. We both have a very balanced life and we both work hard in the gym and stay healthy."
The actress was a guest on the show to promote her new drama, "The Blame." In the series, she portrays DI Emma Crane, marking her first role since welcoming her daughter, Palma, in March of the previous year. Keegan had previously spoken about the challenges of returning to work after childbirth, describing the experience as "daunting" but ultimately finding support from the production team.
Reflecting on public attention regarding her family life, Keegan shared in an interview last year that speculation about starting a family, particularly after marrying Wright a decade prior, had become overwhelming. She decided to stop discussing that aspect of her life publicly due to the constant media attention, stating, "I'm going to be 38 this year and, as I've got older, I feel more confident about my boundaries."
