Michael Sheen Tipped as Favorite to Win Celebrity Traitors
Actor Michael Sheen leads the odds to win the upcoming season of BBC's 'The Celebrity Traitors', ahead of Richard E. Grant and Bella Ramsey.
Michael Sheen has emerged as the surprise favorite to win the upcoming season of the BBC's "The Celebrity Traitors," according to odds released ahead of the show's premiere. The actor is currently favored to triumph in the treacherous competition, where 21 new stars will enter a famous castle to determine if they are Traitors or Faithfuls, competing to earn money for a prize fund.
Figures from ActionNetwork.com indicate Sheen has odds of 7/2 to win the entire show. Actor Richard E. Grant follows closely with odds of 9/2, while "The Last of Us" star Bella Ramsey rounds out the top three with 5/1 odds. Singer James Blunt and actress Miranda Hart are tied for fourth place with 11/2 odds.
An ActionNetwork.com spokesperson commented that Sheen's acting ability provides him with the range to convincingly play a traitor. The odds suggest that Grant, with his "wise-figure archetype," could also be a formidable player, either as a cunning traitor or a trusted faithful.
Romesh Ranganathan leads the market as the most likely contestant to be named a traitor, at 5/2. However, the spokesperson noted that comedians on the cast might face increased suspicion from the outset, following Alan Carr's victory as a traitor in the previous series.
The show's previous season premiere attracted over six million viewers, and anticipation for the new series is high. Pubs, bars, and private venues across Britain are preparing to host viewing events. In London, venues like BrewDog bars and the Fulham Pier are planning ticketed events, offering fans the chance to watch the drama unfold on a big screen and win prizes. The London Art Bar is also hosting an event encouraging guests to dress as host Claudia Winkleman.
The BBC has engaged in promotional activities, including a large mural of Winkleman and the new celebrity cast in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Content creators have shared paid social videos showcasing the artwork, with crosses being added to portraits after each elimination, mirroring in-show events.
A promotional event featured the Kantos Chamber Choir performing the show's theme tune, accompanied by figures in gold masks holding memorial flowers with the inscription "RIP VIP."
The full lineup for the new season includes Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Miranda Hart, Michael Sheen, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Romesh Ranganathan, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney. The series is set to premiere on Thursday at 8 p.m.
