Michael Sheen Eliminated in 'Celebrity Traitors' Finale Amidst James Acaster's Confession Fallout

Michael Sheen was eliminated during the dramatic finale of "Celebrity Traitors" on Friday night, marking the final 'murder' of the series as the remaining Traitors, Maya Jama and King Kenny, made their decision.

Jama and Kenny chose Sheen as the last victim after the actor had previously identified Jama as a Traitor. As he departed, Sheen reflected on his near-finish, stating, "I'm gutted that I got so close to the end but it has been unforgettable. But I am happy I got so close to the end."

King Kenny, one half of the remaining Traitor duo, explained their choice in the turret, remarking, "He's too authoritative on that table. It's time for him to go." The decision was made between Sheen and fellow contestant Sebastian Croft.

The finale also addressed the significant disruption caused by comedian James Acaster's confession in the previous episode. Acaster's decision to reveal his Traitor status during a round table discussion created what the remaining players described as "absolute chaos."

In Thursday night's episode, Jama and Kenny were taken aback when Acaster revealed his identity. This revelation shifted the game's dynamics, with Michael Sheen rallying the Faithfuls to suspect Jama.

Jama had previously come under scrutiny from the Faithfuls, who linked her to the murder of Ross Kemp. She defended herself against these accusations. Sheen then questioned Acaster about the specifics of the murder, including his knowledge of a deadly perfume bottle.

Acaster acknowledged the plausibility of the accusations but denied involvement, stating, "I can promise you that I didn't spray him." He then confessed to being made a Traitor against his will, expressing a desire to have been a Faithful. "I wanted to be a Faithful; that's all I wanted to be," Acaster said. "I couldn't just go, 'Guys, it's me, vote for me.' But that's all I can do, really."

Filming was temporarily halted due to Acaster's anxiety and difficulty in articulating his situation. An insider noted that his struggle had been evident throughout the series. Acaster received all the votes from the other contestants and, before his exit, stated he was proud to have helped the Faithfuls as much as possible under the circumstances, admitting that a "weight has been lifted off his shoulders."

The finale also highlighted minor slip-ups by Jama and Kenny that went unnoticed by the Faithfuls. During a toast, Jama inadvertently said, "To killing em," before quickly correcting herself to "Banishing them even." She later attributed the slip to exhaustion, stating, "By this point I was so tired the Traitor was dropping out of me."

Kenny also made a revealing comment during a round table, accusing Sheen and stating, "As a Traitors myself I would have got rid of you already, so that's my red flag on you." This comment was noted by Sebastian Croft.
