Michael Rapaport Slams NYC Mayor Mamdani at Jewish Gathering
Actor criticizes the mayor's leadership and wife's remarks during an event outside Gracie Mansion.
Actor and comedian Michael Rapaport delivered a scathing critique of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani during a Jewish gathering held outside Gracie Mansion on Friday.
"Zohran the moron is the most divisive mayor in the history of this city by far," Rapaport stated. "He's a two-bit con man."
Rapaport also directed accusations at the mayor's wife, calling her "an antisemite" and "a racist, as well as a homophobic."
The mayor's office, in response to a request for comment from Fox News Digital, referred to remarks Mamdani made earlier in the week regarding the planned gathering. "I welcome them," the mayor had said. "They can have a vigil, or I've heard some describe it even as a protest." Mamdani added that whatever the gathering's intent, participants have "the room and space to do so outside of Gracie Mansion," and that he would likely be elsewhere in the city at the time.
Rapaport indicated that he is "absolutely considering running for mayor," although he did not rule out supporting another candidate if they had a better chance of winning. The next mayoral election in New York City is scheduled for 2029.
The gathering itself was organized by students from SAR Academy, Ramaz, and other schools. Rabbi Binyamin Krauss, principal of SAR Academy, explained in an article published by The Times of Israel that the students would gather to pray and sing. "Here’s what we want students to learn in the three periods this costs: you belong in this city, and when Jews feel unsafe we gather, and we pray, out loud. We express both our vulnerability and our agency at the same time. Showing up is a civic act, one the Constitution protects and one they’ll need for the rest of their lives," Krauss wrote.
He further stated, "Our students love this city and they love Israel, and they don’t see a contradiction."
During the event, individuals identifying as Jewish counter-protesters were also present, expressing anti-Israel sentiments. They displayed signs that read, "Mayor Mamdani A Friend of Jews While Opposing Israeli Crimes" and "Anti-Zionism Is NOT Anti-Semitism."
