Michael Penix Jr. and Wife Expecting First Child
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and his wife, Olivia, announced they are expecting their first child together.
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and his wife, Olivia, are expecting their first child, according to an announcement shared on social media.
The couple revealed the news via an Instagram video on Saturday, which depicted them having a picnic with ultrasounds of their unborn child. The caption accompanying the video read, “Upgraded to mom and dad.”
Penix and Olivia, who met while Penix was playing football at the University of Washington, became engaged shortly after his first NFL start in 2024. They married at a Georgia resort in May.
Olivia played soccer at the University of Nevada, Reno, before graduating in 2022.
The announcement comes after Penix recently completed his recovery from a torn ACL he sustained last season. In his first game back, a Week 3 victory over the Green Bay Packers, Penix recorded 256 passing yards with one touchdown and one interception over 10 months after his injury.
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski commended Penix’s return to the field, highlighting the quarterback’s dedication to his rehabilitation. “It’s not easy to rehab from injuries,” Stefanski stated, according to ESPN. “That’s a tough thing to do when he’s putting himself through the extra workouts in the weight room, the extra treatments in the training room. All those times that he’s out on the field running and no one was watching. It’s just him and the trainers and the medical staff. So proud of all of that. I got to witness it, and this, tonight, is something you can build on.”
Penix, however, emphasized that the season is still in its early stages and that there is always room for improvement. “We got a long season to go,” Penix said. “That game was far from perfect, and that’s what we’re striving for each and every day. So, obviously we’re going to go back and look at the film, find things that we can do better.”
