Michael Irvin Slams Justin Herbert's Relationship Amid Chargers' Struggles

NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has voiced criticism of Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, linking his struggles on the field to his high-profile relationship with singer Madison Beer. The comments came after the Chargers suffered a 26-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, pushing their season record to 0-2.

In a video shared on social media, Irvin questioned Herbert's focus, stating, "You made the wrong drive. Driving your girl to the airport, but you can’t drive this team to that endzone?! That’s a problem." The caption accompanying the video on Irvin's social media team's account echoed this sentiment, suggesting Herbert might be prioritizing the wrong things.

Herbert, who reportedly spent a significant portion of his offseason traveling with Beer, has faced scrutiny for the Chargers' disappointing start. The 28-year-old quarterback has thrown for 401 yards and two touchdowns through the first two games, but has also committed three interceptions and fumbled the ball three times. He has been sacked six times.

Irvin's remarks are part of a broader commentary on the Chargers' performance, with other former NFL figures also expressing disappointment. Former NFL offensive lineman Will Compton noted on his X account that he was incorrect in his assessment of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel improving the team, calling the Chargers "brutal." Richie Incognito, another former offensive lineman, also made critical remarks following the Raiders' victory.

The Chargers' 0-2 start includes home losses to both the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders.
