Michael Gove Ends Relationship With French Academic

Michael Gove, the former Conservative Cabinet minister, has separated from his girlfriend, French academic Dr. Lola Salem, after two years together. The split occurred some time ago, and Gove has reportedly moved out of the west London flat they shared.

Their relationship first garnered public attention in 2024 when they were photographed arriving at The Spectator magazine’s summer party. Gove, who was then shielding Salem from the rain with an umbrella, was later seen kissing her at a London restaurant. At the time of their public emergence, Gove had recently stepped down as a Member of Parliament and had been appointed editor of The Spectator.

Salem holds two degrees from Paris and earned a doctorate at Oxford. Their age difference, with Gove being 26 years older than Salem, had been a point of discussion when their romance began.
