Michael Gove Ends Relationship With French Academic
The former Conservative Cabinet minister's two-year relationship with Dr. Lola Salem has reportedly concluded.

Michael Gove has split from his girlfriend, the French academic Dr. Lola Salem, after two years together. A source confirmed the separation, stating that Gove has moved out of the west London flat they shared. The reasons for the split have not been disclosed.
The couple first appeared together publicly in 2024, attending The Spectator magazine’s summer party, where Gove was pictured shielding Salem from the rain with an umbrella. Later that year, they were photographed kissing at a London restaurant. Gove, who had recently stepped down as a Member of Parliament, was appointed editor of The Spectator shortly thereafter.
Dr. Salem holds two degrees from Paris and earned a doctorate from Oxford University. Gove, who has previously spoken about his perceived shortcomings in appearance and charisma, also made public comments about his admiration for Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood.
