Michael Flatley's Wife Niamh O'Brien Dies at 52 After Illness
The 'Riverdance' star expressed his heartbreak following the death of his wife, an accomplished Irish dancer and former lead performer in 'Lord of the Dance.'
Niamh O'Brien, wife of 'Riverdance' creator Michael Flatley and a former lead performer in his 'Lord of the Dance' show, has died at the age of 52. O'Brien passed away peacefully after an illness, just days before she and Flatley were scheduled to celebrate a landmark anniversary.
Flatley announced the news, stating, "My heart is broken." O'Brien, who was also an accomplished Irish dancer, married Flatley in a ceremony held at his Castlehyde mansion in Cork. The couple first met in the 1990s while working on his famous production, 'Riverdance.'
O'Brien performed as a lead dancer in 'Lord of the Dance,' a show created by her husband that achieved international success. The couple remained together for many years, with their wedding celebrated at their Cork estate. O'Brien was known for her own achievements in Irish dance before her marriage to Flatley.
