Michael Douglas Has No Regrets About His Candid Memoir, Hopes Wife is Understanding

Michael Douglas shared his thoughts on his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones's reception to his new memoir, "One Helluva Ride," stating he has "no regrets" about its candid content.

"She's in the midst of it right now. She just got back. She was doing the third season of ‘Wednesday,'" Douglas said of Zeta-Jones's reading progress in an interview. The actor, 82, added that he has already discussed the memoir's contents with his wife, 57.

Douglas, who married Zeta-Jones in November 2000, has been open about his past relationships and personal struggles in the book. He details affairs with Kathleen Turner and Jeanne Tripplehorn, as well as his past cocaine and alcohol use, which led him to seek rehabilitation. He also touches on his son Cameron's addiction and subsequent prison sentence.

"I didn’t have to [include it]," Douglas stated about his decision to include details of his drug use, "but I was just sharing my experience."

Despite the potentially sensitive revelations, Douglas expressed deep affection for Zeta-Jones, referring to her as his "soul mate." He praised her talent and sense of humor, noting, "We’re in our 26th year and I enjoy her company very much."

The couple, who are parents to son Dylan, 26, and daughter Carys, 23, have been married for over two decades. Douglas referred to Zeta-Jones as a "good lady."
