Michael Douglas Discusses Jeanne Tripplehorn's Reaction to Memoir's Revelations

Michael Douglas stated that he obtained Jeanne Tripplehorn's consent before including details of their affair in his memoir, "One Helluva Ride." Douglas confirmed in an interview with Page Six that he discussed the content with Tripplehorn prior to its publication and that she was "fine" with the inclusion.

The memoir recounts a fling between Douglas and Tripplehorn, 63, during the filming of the 1992 film "Basic Instinct." At the time of the film's release, speculation often centered on a potential relationship between Douglas and co-star Sharon Stone due to their on-screen chemistry.

Douglas, who was married to his first wife, Diandra Luker, at the time of the affair, wrote in his book that he developed strong feelings for Tripplehorn, despite a nearly 20-year age difference. He stated he was considering leaving his wife for Tripplehorn, describing himself as "crazy about her."

However, Douglas noted that he recognized that ending a long-standing marriage to immediately enter a new relationship would have been detrimental to him. "My relationship with Jeanne lasted through production, then we went our separate ways," Douglas wrote. He also expressed that he considers Tripplehorn an "amazing actress and a truly terrific woman that I was very fortunate to spend time with."

Douglas eventually divorced Luker and married Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000. Tripplehorn married actor Leland Orser in the same year.

While Douglas mentioned he has not seen Tripplehorn in years, he emphasized the significance of their past relationship, stating it involved more than just an affair, but also an "important friendship and working together."

"One Helluva Ride" also covers other aspects of Douglas' life, including an affair with Kathleen Turner during the filming of "Romancing the Stone," his past struggles with cocaine addiction, his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones, and his battle with cancer.
