Michael Douglas, 81, and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 56, shared a family moment on Instagram on Friday, posting a photo with their children, Dylan, 26, and Carys, 23.
The couple, married since 2000, appeared to be on vacation in an undisclosed location, enjoying drinks at sunset.
"A nice family evening! Hope you all have a wonderful and fun weekend ahead! Lots of love! MD," Douglas captioned the post.
Zeta-Jones wore a one-shoulder black dress, while their daughter Carys was in an elegant silk green gown. Carys, who graduated from Brown University last year with a degree in film and international relations, recently made her theater debut. She appeared in Anton Chekhov's play "The Seagull" in July in Brooklyn, with a viral video capturing moments from her performance.
A friend of Carys told the Daily Mail in May that her parents are "so proud" of her achievements. Carys has spoken about her desire to pursue acting and performing arts post-college. "I grew up doing theater, and I didn't study acting in school, but that's why I'm happy to be in such an informative arts space, so hopefully more of that," she told People.
In a 2018 interview with Town & Country, Carys reflected on growing up with celebrity parents, stating, "My parents do a really good job of reality-checking me and being like, 'Look around you. The life you have is extraordinary.'"
Zeta-Jones added that she instilled manners in her children, calling it essential and stating, "There's nothing worse than a privileged kid without manners. I drilled it into them like boot camp."
Regarding her children potentially entering the entertainment industry, Zeta-Jones previously expressed on the Today show in 2021 that she and Michael would typically suggest other careers. However, she noted their passion for acting as a craft, their awareness of celebrity, and their participation in theater camps alongside other aspiring young actors.
She also mentioned that her children have had conversations with their father, who is the son of the late actor Kirk Douglas, about the challenges of entering the same profession. "One would think that there's so many open doors for people to go into the same business as their parents, but, in fact, one has to really prove themselves more, and it's hard to be compared to," she said. Zeta-Jones added that her children are not deterred and that she is "excited to see whatever journey they happen to go on."
