Michael Dell Defends Wife Susan After Online Trolls Mock Her Appearance at White House Event

Michael Dell, the founder of Dell Computers, has publicly criticized internet trolls who targeted his wife, Susan Dell, with unkind remarks about her appearance following a recent White House event. The couple was in Washington D.C. to promote a $6.25 billion initiative that provides a $250 investment account for every American newborn.

Susan Dell, 62, spoke about the "tax-advantaged investment accounts" designed for children under 18 who possess a Social Security number. Following the event, clips and photos of the couple circulated online, with some users focusing on Susan Dell's appearance. This occurred despite the significant philanthropic effort being discussed.

Michael Dell, 61, responded by resharing supportive messages on social media platform X. One message highlighted the Dells' donation and questioned the focus on Susan Dell's looks. "The Dell family gave 7 billion dollars directly to American children. And instead of gratitude, there's much discussion of a 62 year old woman's looks," wrote commentator Mike Cernovich.

Several social media users shared their positive experiences with the initiative. One poster noted, "Out of the blue $250 showed up from Dell for both of my boys. I will go out of my way to support them now, who else has done what they did? No one… It’s truly insane how evil and full of themselves people are."

Another user added, "My grandson got 250 dollars in his Trump account from Susan Dell. Please leave that woman alone." Michael Dell reshared both of these comments, expressing gratitude.

Eric Trump, son of President Trump, also condemned the online attacks. "People are awful. Susan and Michael Dell just put $6.25 billion into Trump Accounts for 25 million kids so they’ll have something waiting for them when they grow up—one of, if not the largest private donation in American History," he wrote on X. "The response? Vicious attacks on her. I’m tired of this nonsense. Very few people have done more for philanthropy. It’s disgusting and it has to stop. Susan, on behalf of the overwhelming majority of people in this nation: Thank You!! You are incredible!"

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, established in 1999, has committed $6.25 billion to fund these "Trump Accounts," which are also supported by taxpayer funds. The initiative aims to provide children with a financial head start, with funds restricted for use on significant life events such as purchasing a home or pursuing education once the recipients turn 18.

Michael Dell shared several handwritten letters from children who have already benefited from the program, including messages expressing gratitude for the funds deposited into their accounts. "Dear Dell Family, Thank you for the money in my Trump bank account. I'm very glad to be saving for my future," read one such letter. Another, from an eight-year-old girl in Arizona, stated, "I'm grateful for the money you added to my Trump account, Thank you for helping me save for my future."

The Dells, who met on a blind date in 1988 and married the following year, have four children. Michael Dell's net worth is estimated by Forbes to be around $300 billion. Susan Dell previously served on President George W. Bush's Council for Physical Fitness and Sports.
