Michael Dell Defends Wife Susan After Online Attacks Following White House Visit
Tech billionaire Michael Dell publicly defended his wife Susan against online trolls who criticized her appearance during a White House event promoting a children's savings initiative.
Tech billionaire Michael Dell has spoken out against individuals who made disparaging remarks about his wife, Susan Dell, following a recent appearance at the White House. The couple was in Washington D.C. to discuss a $6.25 billion initiative that aims to provide a $250 investment account for every American newborn.
Despite the philanthropic nature of their visit, clips and photos of Susan Dell circulated online, drawing unkind comments about her appearance. Michael Dell, 61, shared several responses on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that condemned the trolling. One such post highlighted the significant donation from the Dell family, stating, "The Dell family gave 7 billion dollars directly to American children. And instead of gratitude, there's much discussion of a 62 year old woman's looks."
Supporters defended Susan Dell, with some sharing their personal experiences with the initiative. One user wrote, "Out of the blue $250 showed up from Dell for both of my boys. I will go out of my way to support them now, who else has done what they did? No one… It’s truly insane how evil and full of themselves people are."
Another user added, "My grandson got 250 dollars in his Trump account from Susan Dell. Please leave that woman alone."
Michael Dell reshared these and other supportive comments, using emojis to express gratitude. He also shared letters from children who have already benefited from the program, with some messages reading, "Dear Dell Family, Thank you for the money in my Trump bank account. I'm very glad to be saving for my future."
Eric Trump, son of former President Donald Trump, also voiced his disapproval of the criticism, calling the attacks "vicious" and "disgusting." He praised the Dells' philanthropic efforts, noting that their $6.25 billion pledge, combined with taxpayer funds, establishes "Trump Accounts" for children. He concluded by thanking Susan Dell, calling her "incredible."
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, established in 1999, has been instrumental in the savings initiative. Susan Dell previously served on President George W. Bush's Council for Physical Fitness and Sports. The "Trump Accounts" are intended for children under 18 with a Social Security number, with funds accessible at age 18 for purposes such as purchasing a home or paying for education. The couple met on a blind date in 1988 and married the following year. Michael Dell, founder of Dell computers, has a net worth estimated around $300 billion.
