Michael Cohen, former personal lawyer and fixer for Donald Trump, has secured a new role as a radio host at 770 WABC. The program is slated to begin on July 12 and will initially occupy the Sunday slot, replacing former Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cohen described the new position as "completely liberating" and an "unfiltered pipeline to the people." He intends to migrate his substantial following from podcasts, YouTube, and Substack to the radio platform, expressing enthusiasm for a space where he can deliver "the plain, unvarnished truth." He characterized radio as an intimate medium where authenticity is paramount, stating, "You can’t fake it here; listeners can smell BS from a mile away." Cohen added, "And believe me, after everything I’ve been through, I know exactly what BS smells like, and I’m here to call it out every single day."
His stated focus for the show is "accountability" and giving a voice to the "Tired Majority," whom he believes are "completely exhausted by endless fighting in DC that does absolutely nothing to help everyday Americans." Cohen plans to leverage his past experiences and insider knowledge to "pull back the curtain and set the record straight."
John Catsimatidis, owner of WABC and a notable Trump supporter, confirmed that Cohen's hiring had been cleared, stating, "I checked with the White House and they had no objection. I understand everything is fine." Cohen, when asked about recent conversations with Trump, declined to comment, saying he was "focused on the future." He did, however, relay that he was told Trump gave him a "glowing recommendation" for the role, believing Cohen would become "the next Rush Limbaugh."
Cohen, who admitted to arranging hush-money payments during Trump's 2016 presidential campaign to silence a porn star and a former Playboy Playmate regarding alleged affairs, later became a key witness in investigations against his former boss. Recently, Cohen has voiced criticisms of New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, suggesting in a Substack post that they compelled him to testify against Trump in their respective civil fraud and “hush money” cases.
During an interview with Catsimatidis on "The Cats Roundtable," Cohen offered a more conciliatory perspective on Trump, stating, "You don’t have to necessarily agree with every single thing that the president says or does… His goal is to actually do right by the country." He emphasized that Trump is entitled to pursue his agenda, as confirmed by the 79 million people who voted for him. Cohen also commented on Trump's use of executive power, noting his willingness to "press it to the line, stepping over the line, just to see each day how much further that he can advance his executive powers" to effectuate his agenda. Cohen recalled his time working for Trump, where he was among those willing to offer dissenting opinions, noting that Trump would either utilize or disregard such advice as was his prerogative as president.
WABC owner Catsimatidis indicated that while Cohen is currently scheduled for Sundays, he would "probably" grant him a regular five-day show if he desired it. Cohen is also expected to host a podcast each Tuesday.
