Michael Clarke Pivots to Radio, Embraces 3 AM Gym Sessions
Former cricketer Michael Clarke is set to co-host 2DayFM's breakfast show in 2027, requiring a significant shift in his daily routine.
Michael Clarke is embarking on a new career path as a radio host, taking on a co-hosting role for 2DayFM's breakfast program starting in 2027. The transition necessitates a demanding schedule, including waking at 3 AM for gym sessions before his on-air duties begin at 6 AM.
Clarke will join Nath Roye and Emma Chow for the new show. He expressed his commitment to the role, stating, "This is my priority. This is my focus." His new routine involves going to bed at 6 PM and waking up at 3 AM to train before heading to work. "I'm locked in, put it that way," Clarke commented on his dedicated approach.
The former cricketer acknowledged his long-standing connection to the station, having grown up listening to 2DayFM. "It's such a great team to be a part of. I'm very fortunate and very lucky," he said.
In a statement following the announcement, Clarke shared his enthusiasm for the new challenge. "FM Breakfast radio is a completely new challenge and one I'm excited to get stuck into," he stated. He also expressed respect for his co-hosts, Nath and Emma, calling them "absolute superstars" and noting that joining their team is a "dream come true." Clarke is eager to collaborate with them to create the best possible show for Sydney listeners.
Emma Chow welcomed Clarke to the team, highlighting his wit and unpredictability. "A champion athlete, a loving dad, and not afraid to speak his mind," she remarked, adding that the trio already shares a lively group chat.
Nath Roye also expressed his excitement about Clarke joining their group, describing him as a "proud dad, Sydney boy through and through, and a former Australian captain." He characterized Clarke as both relatable and driven.
The new 2DayFM Breakfast show is scheduled to begin airing on January 11, 2027.
