A Miami woman, Lynn Marie Zamora, 32, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon following an alleged scissors attack on a male companion inside an Uber.

According to police, the incident unfolded on Monday evening when Zamora's companion, Peter Anthony Echezarreta, asked her to stop drinking beer in the back of the rideshare vehicle as they traveled to a friend's home. The pair had reportedly been at the Best Western Plus Kendall Hotel & Suites earlier that night.

During the journey, Echezarreta repeatedly pleaded with Zamora to cease drinking alcohol in the vehicle, which police stated caused her to become increasingly irritated. The police affidavit indicates that Zamora then reached into her purse, produced a pair of scissors, and allegedly stabbed Echezarreta twice.

The victim sustained puncture wounds to his arm and leg. The Uber driver brought the vehicle to a stop, and Echezarreta, bleeding, called 911. He was transported to a hospital by Miami Fire Rescue.

Doctors at HCA Florida Town and County Emergency treated Echezarreta, applying two medical staples to his left arm and two to his left calf. His injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.

The Uber driver, Alfredo Jose Puchi Torres, remained at the scene and provided a witness statement to officers that aligned with the victim's account.

Zamora was arrested at approximately 1:11 a.m. on Tuesday and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Uber has since banned Zamora from its platform, with a spokesperson stating the behavior was alarming and unacceptable.

Florida state law prohibits the possession of open alcoholic containers and the consumption of alcohol in the passenger area of a vehicle on public roads. This rule applies to both drivers and passengers.

Prosecutors highlighted Zamora's criminal history during a court appearance on July 14. They stated she was already on probation for a separate battery case involving an elderly individual when the alleged scissors attack occurred. Court documents revealed previous convictions for battery on an elderly person, battery on law enforcement, and written threats to kill.

Despite a defense request for medical treatment, prosecutors argued Zamora posed an ongoing danger to the public, citing her history. A judge ultimately set her bond at $7,500.

It remains unclear if Zamora has retained legal representation to respond to the charges. She is currently charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
