A luxury resort in Miami Beach is set to offer a high-end twist on a classic American barbecue staple for the Fourth of July. The Carillon Miami Wellness Resort will debut its $250 "Lobster Dog" as part of its Independence Day celebrations, which also mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The limited-edition creation replaces the traditional hot dog with five ounces of Florida spiny lobster tail. It is topped with smoked oyster remoulade and a half-ounce of premium caviar. Each order of the Lobster Dog also includes a bottle of Pommery Brut Royale Champagne.
Executive chef Christopher Robertson developed the dish, which will be available for a limited time during the resort's Independence Day barbecue on July 4, from noon to 3 p.m.
This extravagant offering follows a trend of high-end hot dogs, including a $100 "Golden Glizzy" that gained attention in Miami earlier in the year. That earlier creation featured Australian Wagyu beef, a croissant bun, caviar, creme fraiche, mascarpone, chives, and edible gold flakes.
For guests seeking more traditional fare, the resort's Fourth of July event will also include charcoal-grilled hot dogs with classic toppings, locally brewed beer, live music, and lawn games. The National Anthem is scheduled to be performed shortly before 3 p.m.
The celebration will also have a charitable component, with proceeds from ticket sales benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. Discounted valet parking will be available for $10.
