Miami Heat to Debut 'Vice City' Jerseys Ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI Release
The NBA team's special uniforms and court coincide with the highly anticipated video game launch.
The Miami Heat will debut new "Vice City"-themed jerseys and a specially designed court on November 18, the night before the highly anticipated release of the video game "Grand Theft Auto VI." The game, which features a fictionalized version of Miami, is set to launch on November 19.
The NBA team announced that their new "Vice City" uniforms will be a "completely reimagined" take for the occasion. The Kaseya Center, the Heat's home arena, will also feature a large "Welcome to Vice City" sign with the "Grand Theft Auto VI" logo. Merchandise related to the collaboration will also be available.
This marks an unusual sports and video game tie-in, particularly for a non-sports game. "Grand Theft Auto VI" is expected to be one of the largest entertainment releases of all time. The game's setting in a Miami-inspired locale makes the collaboration with the Miami Heat a natural fit.
The November 18 game will see the Heat face off against the Milwaukee Bucks. The team's website notes that the "Vice City" collection represents a new interpretation of their popular theme.
