The Miami Heat have surged to become the favorites to sign LeBron James, according to updated odds from Kalshi. This marks a notable shift from earlier projections that favored a Cleveland homecoming.

A substantial market movement saw 57 percent of the interest shift towards Miami on a recent Saturday, raising the possibility of James joining forces with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. Previously, on July 10, the Cavaliers held a strong lead with 58.6 percent of the market share, while the Heat trailed at 19.8 percent.

By the evening of July 17, the Heat's percentage had climbed to 26.6 percent, nearing Cleveland's 33 percent, before ultimately securing the top position.

Speculation surrounding James' next destination intensified after his own comments at Fanatics Fest in New York City. During a live recording of his podcast, "Mind the Game," with co-host Tyrese Haliburton, James cryptically urged fans to "follow the clues" regarding his final team. James, an 22-time All-Star, announced this summer that he would be departing the Lakers organization after an eight-year tenure. The Philadelphia 76ers and Golden State Warriors were also considered among the leading contenders in the sweepstakes.

The potential move to Miami evokes memories of James' previous stint with the Heat from 2011 to 2014. During that period, he teamed up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, leading the franchise to back-to-back NBA championships in 2012 and 2013. If he were to join the Heat now, he would be entering as an elder statesman alongside Antetokounmpo, who would be 31, and Adebayo, 29, both considered to be in their prime careers. This scenario, however, remains speculative until a final decision is officially made.
