The New York Mets extended their losing streak to three games Sunday, falling 2-0 to the Miami Marlins, as the team faces further roster upheaval with the trade deadline approaching. The Mets' offense has produced only 11 runs over their last six games.

Interim manager Andy Green acknowledged the team's situation, noting that Robert Stock, who made his fourth career start, was chosen to pitch due to availability and pitch count considerations. Stock pitched five innings, allowing one run on a home run to Joe Mack in the fifth inning. Despite Stock's performance, the Mets fell to a season-high 19 games below .500.

The Mets are expected to see significant changes before the Monday 6 p.m. deadline. Several players likely to be traded, including Brooks Raley, Luke Weaver, and Huascar Brazoban, were used in Sunday's game. Devin Williams, who is not expected to be traded, allowed a run in the ninth inning, extending Miami's lead.

Mets hitters struggled against Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcántara, who threw over six scoreless innings. In the seventh inning, Luis Robert Jr. singled, followed by a double from Jared Young, but the Mets failed to score. Michael Petersen walked Marcus Semien to load the bases with no outs, but Jorge Polanco and Francisco Alvarez struck out, and A.J. Ewing grounded out to end the threat. Francisco Lindor hit a double in the eighth inning but was left stranded. The Mets finished 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Ahead of Tuesday's game in Cleveland to begin a nine-game road trip, the Mets' roster is anticipated to look different. "We've got a game to play, a game to win,'' Green said prior to Sunday's game. "The focus is today... There’s added emotion for different guys. Our job is to cut out the noise [and] go play baseball. We have not swung the bats well enough the last couple days. We’ve got to put some runs on the board."
