The New York Mets showcased a revamped roster, including several new bullpen arms, in a 6-2 victory against the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday. The win came just a day after the team’s president of baseball operations, David Stearns, completed a series of trades at the deadline.

Newcomers such as Nate Lavender, Jefry Yan, and Chayse McDermott joined the team, alongside previously acquired players like Dedniel Núñez and Cristian Pache. The club managed to secure the win despite the departures of key relievers like Luke Weaver, Huascar Brazobán, and Brooks Raley.

Luis Torrens, Bo Bichette, and Carson Benge each hit a home run to help end the Mets' three-game losing streak. Lavender, in his major league debut, pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Kodai Senga, a starter, shifted to pitching the ninth inning in a closer role and also delivered a scoreless frame.

Sean Manaea started for the Mets, pitching six innings and allowing two runs on seven hits and five walks, with seven strikeouts. This outing marked Manaea’s third consecutive start of at least six innings pitched with two earned runs or fewer allowed.

Torrens opened the scoring in the second inning with a three-run home run. Bichette extended the lead to 4-0 in the third with his 11th home run of the season. The Guardians managed to score a run in the third, but the Mets responded in the fourth when Torrens hit an RBI single to make it 5-1.

Cleveland narrowed the gap to 5-2 in the fifth inning after Travis Bazzana’s RBI single. However, Benge sealed the victory in the eighth inning with a 451-foot home run to center field, his 12th of the season, extending the Mets’ lead to 6-2.
