The New York Mets have activated Juan Soto from the injured list, just over a month after he sustained a left calf strain. The star outfielder will rejoin the lineup as the Mets begin their series against the Houston Astros at Citi Field, bypassing a minor league rehabilitation assignment. Soto had previously expressed his intention to return in 2026, even in what has been a challenging season for the team.

At the time of his injury on July 24, Soto was hitting .283 with a .947 OPS. He had also hit 21 home runs and driven in 52 runs during the 2026 season, which has seen him spend multiple stints on the injured list. In a corresponding roster move, infielder Eric Wagaman was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
