The Metropolitan Police have launched a corporate manslaughter investigation into the death of Joshua Robbins, 23, who died on January 26 after the balcony railings of his London flat gave way. Robbins was checking on a pizza delivery for himself and his father when the incident occurred at Holland and Thurston Dwellings in Holborn.
Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA) is cooperating with the police investigation, providing requested materials. A forensic engineer examined the scene, and CCTV footage has been collected as part of the inquiry. Detective Inspector Mark Paterson stated that the investigation is ongoing and that ISHA is compliant with all requests.
Joshua's mother, Fiona Garrett, has been seeking answers regarding her son's death. His father, Will Robbins, was present and is described as being extremely traumatized by the event. Garrett previously contacted her son's Member of Parliament, Sir Keir Starmer, the former prime minister, to request a meeting as she campaigns for more information.
Garrett noted that Starmer's office responded promptly, with a personal message from him that she found to be genuine. She shared that her husband was moved by the prime minister's acknowledgment of their son.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that inquiries continue, with officers liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service and keeping the family informed. A further pre-inquest review is scheduled for January 6, 2027, with an update expected by January.
