The residency performances are enhanced by the immersive audiovisual experience of the Sphere venue. Reviews have highlighted the spectacular visual elements, with The Hollywood Reporter describing one moment during "The Call of Ktulu" where "darkness opened into a vast oceanic world as an enormous creature rose from the sea, expanding until it occupied the entire visual field."
Metallica's residency at the Sphere is scheduled to run through March 2027, with additional dates planned for November 2026, and January, February, and March of 2027. The band also has a "M72 Tour" scheduled for spring 2027 across North America, with dates in Vancouver, San Diego, El Paso, San Antonio, Fayetteville, Kansas City, Raleigh, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Madison, Cleveland, and Salt Lake City.
