Met Police Officer Charged Following BBC Investigation
A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged with perverting the course of justice as a result of a BBC Panorama investigation into misconduct at Charing Cross police station.
A Metropolitan Police officer has been charged as a result of a BBC Panorama investigation into alleged misconduct at Charing Cross police station in London. Sgt Sadiq Al-Hasani, 37, faces a charge of perverting the course of justice.
He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. The Metropolitan Police stated that the charge stems from an allegation that Sgt Al-Hasani, who was assigned to the Central West Command Unit, "deliberately sought to discourage another officer from making a statement to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)."
The charge was filed on August 13. The IOPC initiated its investigation following the broadcast of the BBC Panorama episode titled "Undercover in the Police" in October 2025.
