Met Police Close E-Bike Hit-and-Run Investigation Involving TV Presenter's Daughter
Detectives shelved the probe into the rider who fled the scene after Lilla Campbell was severely injured.
The Metropolitan Police have closed an investigation into an e-bike rider who struck and seriously injured Lilla Campbell, the daughter of television presenter Nicky Campbell, and then fled the scene. The incident occurred in Peckham, south-east London, in June.
Despite efforts to identify the rider, including the retrieval of CCTV footage and the placement of a witness board, police stated that no information was provided to locate the individual. A police spokesperson confirmed that the case has been closed pending any new evidence becoming available within the statutory six-month time limit.
Nicky Campbell had publicly appealed for information following the incident, describing on Instagram how his daughter and her sisters faced a "long and emotional night." Lilla was taken to King's College Hospital with serious injuries following the collision. Campbell also recounted an unrelated incident at the hospital's A&E department where a man allegedly exposed himself to Lilla and her friends, for which police made an arrest.
Lilla, 26, is one of Nicky Campbell's four daughters. The e-bike rider reportedly fled the scene after realizing an ambulance had arrived and a crowd was gathering. The police are urging anyone with information or footage who has not yet come forward to contact them, referencing the incident with case number 9571/19JUN.
