Men's suiting is experiencing a revival, with retailers like Men's Wearhouse offering significant discounts leading up to Labor Day. This trend marks a shift back towards more formal attire after a period where casual wear dominated post-pandemic office environments.
Celebrity stylist Sammy J Watts told the New York Post that men are ready to "dress up again, but in a way that feels modern and effortless." Watts noted that suiting is no longer confined to traditional formal occasions but can be incorporated into everyday style with elements like t-shirts and sneakers. The focus, according to Watts, is on personal style rather than rigid fashion rules.
To facilitate this style shift, Men's Wearhouse is offering several pre-Labor Day sales. These include an online-only sale from August 25-26 with up to 30% off, followed by a weekend sale from August 28-30 with similar discounts. A larger online-only sale from September 1-2 will offer up to 50% off, and a Labor Day sale from September 3-7 will feature a buy-one-get-one 50% off promotion.
The retailer's offerings include a range of apparel and accessories suitable for modern suiting. Among the featured items are stretch-fabric dress shirts available in various colors, slim-fit checkered dress shirts, and tailored two-button suits with matching pre-hemmed pants. For formal events, a slim-fit tuxedo is also available. Complementary accessories include mid-rise dress pants with stretch fabric for comfort and a variety of dress shoes, such as classic lace-up loafers and leather derby shoes.
This resurgence in suiting reflects a broader cultural shift as individuals seek to re-establish a sense of polish and confidence in their wardrobes. The sales at Men's Wearhouse aim to make these updated suiting options accessible as the holiday weekend approaches.
