Men Invited to Experience Menopause Hot Flushes via 'MenoVest'

Partners of women experiencing menopause are being invited to a support event that will offer them the chance to simulate one of the condition's primary symptoms using a MenoVest. The initiative is part of an event organized by the Menopaus'ull Support Network in Hull.

Health group Over The Bloody Moon will demonstrate its MenoVest at the event, which is scheduled to take place at Princes Quay shopping center on October 17. The vest is designed to allow users to experience the sensation of a hot flush, a common symptom of menopause.

Sarah Weichardt, who co-manages the project, stated that the group is particularly keen to involve men in the experience. "We're particularly interested in getting men along to come and experience the MenoVest, just so that they can understand what women go through," she said. Weichardt added that the vest simulates not only the hot flush itself but also the accompanying sensations such as panic and anxiety, aiming to provide a more comprehensive understanding.

The event will run from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM BST. Weichardt expressed hope that the vest would foster a better understanding among a wider audience of what women experience during menopause, emphasizing that "the more people we can get to experience it, the better."
