Men Filmed Stealing Rabbit Named Peter From Garden
Two individuals were captured on video snatching the family pet by its ears and making off with it.
Two men were filmed grabbing a family's pet rabbit by its ears before absconding with the animal from a garden in Hull, East Yorkshire. The incident occurred around 5:18 p.m. on Saturday, October 17.
The rabbit, named Peter, was later recovered after being discovered in a car park.
The footage shows one man, wearing a black winter coat, picking up Peter by his ears while a second man, dressed in a leather jacket and black hat, films the act. Peter, who is nine years old, appeared to struggle for over twenty seconds while being held. Both men were seen walking away with the rabbit, laughing.
Peter's owner, Amy Grace, discovered the theft after checking her home CCTV upon returning from shopping with her son. She had left her daughter Faith at home. Grace stated that Peter normally resides in their back garden but was in the front garden due to ongoing work.
Peter suffers from gut stasis and requires medication three times daily. Ms. Grace expressed her distress on social media, highlighting Peter's medical needs and her children's devastation. She described the incident as cruel and expressed a desire to leave the area.
In an update on Sunday, Ms. Grace confirmed Peter had been found by a stranger and returned home. She announced plans to take Peter to the veterinarian to ensure his well-being. Humberside Police have been contacted for comment.
