Memphis Woman Accused of Luring Man to Home Where He Was Beaten, Shot

A man was allegedly lured by a woman to a home in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was subsequently stripped, beaten, and shot by four suspects, according to reports.

Bailey Jobin, 23, and Joseph Polk have been charged with multiple felony robbery offenses stemming from the incident that occurred on Wednesday. The victim stated that Jobin lured him to a salmon-colored house on Pope Street, with Polk reportedly driving him there.

Upon arrival, an individual known only as 'one-legged Jay,' along with two other suspects, appeared and demanded repayment for money the victim had borrowed to purchase a vehicle. According to the victim, these men then forced him to strip naked and proceed to the backyard.

When the victim resisted, saying, "You're going to have to kill me here," Polk allegedly produced a handgun and fired a shot into his right thigh. The other two suspects are accused of repeatedly punching the victim in the face, causing him to lose several teeth.

Following the assault, the victim sought treatment at Baptist East Hospital, where he was able to identify the alleged assailants to investigators.

Investigators identified Polk as the alleged shooter and initiated efforts to locate him. He was apprehended after officers observed him driving a black 2013 BMW, which had been reported stolen. Polk initially fled from officers but was later found standing outside the vehicle and taken into custody.

During questioning, Polk reportedly admitted to being under the influence of multiple intoxicants and was deemed unable to provide a coherent statement.

Polk faces charges including especially aggravated robbery, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, being a felon in possession of a firearm, theft of property valued between $2,500 and $10,000 involving a motor vehicle, evading arrest, and driving without a valid license. Jobin has been charged with especially aggravated robbery.

Both suspects were scheduled to appear in court on Friday. The other alleged participants in the assault, including 'one-legged Jay,' have not yet been apprehended.

This is not Polk's first encounter with law enforcement. In 2024, he was accused of assaulting an officer while attempting to flee from police in a stolen vehicle. The incident concluded with him crashing into multiple cars, resulting in injuries to two individuals.

In that earlier incident, Polk was reportedly driving a Chevrolet Silverado when he reversed into the passenger door of a police car during a traffic stop. An officer in the passenger seat was pinned between the door and the frame while attempting to exit. Polk then fled the scene, running a red light and colliding with other vehicles before crashing. He attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended by police.

Witnesses described seeing the truck speeding at approximately 80 to 100 miles per hour before the crash. Polk faced charges in that case including aggravated assault on a first responder, evading arrest, theft of property, speeding, disregarding a red light, reckless driving, and driving without a license. At the time of that arrest, he also had outstanding warrants for evading, burglary, and property theft.
