Melania Trump, former first lady, has issued a rare public statement regarding a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling. The statement, shared on the social media platform X, addresses the court’s decision to uphold a West Virginia law that prohibits transgender females from participating in girls' and women's sports.

In her statement, Trump articulated a stance that she described as supportive of both the LGBTQIA+ community and the integrity of women's sports. "As many of you may know, I fully support the LGBTQIA+ community. But we must also ensure that our female athletes are protected and respected," she wrote. She noted that this position aligns with views previously expressed in her memoir.

Trump further elaborated on her perspective, stating, "America, we can support the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and also protect opportunities for female athletes. Respect everyone and keep girls’ sports fair. Both ideals are essential."

This stance reflects a position Trump has held previously, including her support for the Log Cabin Republicans, an organization for LGBT conservatives. The Supreme Court's decision has affirmed an opinion that aligns with the Equal Rights protections under Title IX, as indicated in her post.

Supporters gathered outside the Supreme Court to celebrate the ruling. The event saw individuals holding signs with messages such as "Concerned Women for America" and "Save Women's Sports."
